On September 4, 1797: Coup d’état of 18 Fructidor against the 200 royalist deputies from the assemblies were excluded and some royalist leaders and journalists deported to Guyana also the election was cancelled.

General Augereau, who carried out the September 4 coup, is named commander of the new Army of the Rhine.
